BuzzFeed, which once began as a “great cat site,” is preparing to go public in 2018, according to a report by Axios. The site, which now has grown so large as to have a BuzzFeed Motion Pictures Studio in Los Angeles and an award-winning news vertical, has turned down past offers from media companies over long-term plans for an initial public offering. The site also plans to open a Texas bureau in Austin, it announced Tuesday.
