Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Sunday said that the Trump administration's at-times confusing stance on Syria deserves some blame for the Assad regime's use of chemical weapons against its own civilians. “I think it probably was partially to blame. And Secretary [Rex] Tillerson basically saying the same thing after kind of contradicting himself and then saying the same thing argues vigorously for a plan and a strategy,” the senator told CBS's Face the Nation. "As I said, again, taking this action I support and was important.” Weeks before Trump launched 59 Tomahawk missiles at a Syrian air base, Tillerson had publicly declared that the Syrian people will determine Assad's fate.
