Toronto’s financial district was paralyzed for hours Monday after several explosions rocked the area, causing police to shut down surrounding streets. Authorities say a fire in an electrical transformer in an underground vault caused several blasts over the course of several hours, all during the evening rush hour. No injuries were reported, though about 40 firefighters spent at least two hours struggling to put out the blaze. An investigation is underway into the cause of the fire.
