Recently fired FBI Director James Comey asked just days ago for a significant increase in money and personnel for a probe into Russian interference in the U.S. election, The New York Times reports. Comey had a meeting with Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, during which he asked for the expanded resources. Rosenstein wrote the Department of Justice memo that was cited in the decision to fire Comey, which was announced by the White House on Tuesday evening. Comey had also reportedly briefed members of Congress on his request before he was dismissed. According to a spokeswoman, the DOJ denies the report.
