President Trump will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on May 16, the White House announced Wednesday. “The two leaders will discuss how to further strengthen our bilateral relationship and deepen our cooperation to confront terrorism in all its forms,” the statement read. Erdogan, fresh off thwarting a coup and increasing his powers with a recent referendum, recently criticized Trump’s decision to arm Syrian Kurds in their battle against ISIS.
