The family of a prominent Tibetan Buddhist monk who died in Chinese custody say officials cremated his body against their wishes. Tenzin Delek Rinpoche’s sister said the family wanted her brother’s body kept for 15 days in accordance with tradition, and that black marks around his mouth and nails raised the suspicion of foul play. The monk died in a Chinese prison Sunday at age 65. The government did not respond to The New York Times’s requests for comment.
