New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie secretly underwent lap-band surgery in February to lose weight, he revealed to the New York Post on Tuesday. Christie said he agreed to the surgery after the urging of his wife and four kids, who are worried about his long-term health. He insisted he is not trying to lose weight for a potential presidential run in 2016. “It’s so much more important than that,” Christie said. The governor underwent the surgery on February 16, and sources said he has already shed 40 pounds. Christie said he has a diminished appetite, saying he recently ordered a steak and ate only a third of it.
