The parents of Tyler Clementi said they plan on suing Rutgers University, the school their son attended before he committed suicide on Sept. 22. Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge after his roommate allegedly posted a video of him and a male student being romantic. Joseph and Jane Clementi, Tyler’s parents, filed legal notice this week, saying the school “failed to act, failed to put in place and/or failed to implement and enforce policies or practices that would have prevented or deterred such acts.” A spokesperson for Rutgers said the school is not to blame. Clementi’s suicide set off a national outcry for more action to be taken against gay kids who are bullied.
