According to a report on CNN, congressional investigators are now examining whether Attorney General Jeff Sessions had an additional private meeting with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential campaign. This information was attributed in the report to Republican and Democratic sources in Congress and intelligence officials briefed on the investigation. The primary focus is whether there was a meeting that took place on April 27, 2016, at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. At that time, then-candidate Donald Trump was giving his first major foreign-policy address. Before the speech, Sessions and Kislyak reportedly attended a small VIP reception. In addition, the FBI is also looking into whether there was an additional private meeting at the hotel that same day. “The facts haven’t changed; the then-senator did not have any private or side conversations with any Russian officials at the Mayflower Hotel,” Department of Justice spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said in a statement to CNN.
