It seems Julian Assange's high-handed reserve is merely a media persona: In person, writes Isabelle Fraser, who interned with WikiLeaks as the Iraq War Logs were unveiled, Assange is "curious, confident and gregarious." He's "likeable," "disarming," and "quite sexy." Assange is also on edge, like many of the people who work at WikiLeaks. He keeps an "large selection of odd hats," including a large grey wig, and talks about being photographed and followed. One person working there types her password under a blanket. Another WikiLeaks worker says he "lives in fear." Still, Assange is deeply committed to transparency. The redactions in the Iraq documents are "surely a PR exercise," writes Fraser. Assange says he has no qualms about releasing data, even if they "accidentally cause harm in the cause of justice."
