Democratic Republic of Congo declared its Ebola outbreak officially over on Saturday, once 42 days without a recorded new case of the disease had passed. Congo’s outbreak lasted three months and killed 49 of the 66 people infected. Its outbreak was unrelated to the outbreak in West Africa, where at least 5,177 people have died so far. This was Congo’s seventh outbreak since the disease was first identified in 1976.
