A New York congressman who resigned from his seat after pleading guilty to tax fraud was sentenced Friday to eight months in prison. The investigation into Rep. Michael Grimm’s finances began with campaign funds, but also encompassed a restaurant he ran called Healthalicious. “I was wrong, absolutely wrong, to pay them off the books,” the Republican said. “Give me the opportunity to redeem myself.” Prosecutors requested more than two years in prison, but the judge gave Grimm just eight months after saying that sentencing guidelines called for 18 to 24 months.
