Trouble in Gingrich World! The Atlantic’s David Graham points to the bevy of conservative pundits firing at Newt Gingrich today for his accusation that Mitt Romney “bankrupt[ed] companies” as a private-equity investor. HotAir’s Ed Morrissey says what Gingrich calls “bankrupting,” free-market conservatives call “creative destruction.” Charles Krauthammer adds, “This kind of attack is what you’d expect from a socialist.” And even noted Romney-hater George Will says Gingrich’s accusation is “redundant evidence for the proposition that he is the least conservative candidate” in the race. The bigger question: what has become of the political discourse when high-ranking members of the GOP establishment are calling each other socialists?
