A video released Wednesday shows a North Miami police officer shooting a black man who was caring for his autistic patient. Charles Kinsey, a behavior therapist, had his hands up and was laying down with his back on the street when he was shot. “When I went to the ground, I went to the ground with my hands up, and I am laying there just like this,” Kinsey said from his hospital bed. “Telling them again there is no need for firearms. He is autistic. He has a toy truck in his hand.” Police said they were responding to a 911 call warning of someone walking around with a gun and threatening suicide, but no firearm was found. The officer was put on administrative leave.
