Two Albuquerque cops will face murder charges for fatally shooting homeless camper James Boyd last March. The Bernalillo County district attorney filed documents Monday seeking charges against officers Keith Sandy and Dominique Perez. On March 16, 2014, the officers shot Boyd during a standoff. The Albuquerque Police Department said that Boyd had knives and refused to drop them. Video of the incident showed Boyd turning and running right after cops shouted “Do it” and “Get on the ground.” There is also footage of Sandy expressing his desire to shoot Boyd in the groin. “For this f***ing lunatic? I’m going to shoot him in the penis with a shotgun here in a second,” he is heard saying on a dash cam he did not realize was rolling.
