Cops Shoot Man Wielding Hammer

Witnesses say police shot a man about to attack a woman with a hammer in Midtown Wednesday, though police have not officially confirmed that the man was the suspect wanted in a series of New York City hammer attacks. One witness told CBS News that the man swung his hammer at a female officer several times before being shot by her colleague. The man's condition is not yet known.
