A newly elected city councilman near Pittsburgh will not be allowed to take office because of a 1993 drug conviction. Corey Sanders, a Democratic city councilman-elect in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, served four years in prison after pleading no contest to two felony drug counts 23 years ago. He was prevented from being sworn in along with his colleagues Monday night after an assistant district attorney said Sanders will need a full pardon from Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf before he can hold public office.
