Courtney Love’s incessant tweeting is causing more problems than just stuffing up her follower’s Twitter feeds. The actress and former Hole singer has been sued for defamation after tweeting some harsh words about fashion designer Dawn Simorangkir. The two allegedly had a dispute over payment for clothes, and Love called her a "drug-pushing prostitute" via Twitter. Love’s 90,000 followers saw the slanderous comment and retweeted the message to a larger audience. And if one social-media outlet wasn't enough, she also spread the news via MySpace. Simorangkir has responded with a groundbreaking lawsuit, alleging that Love's false statements hurt her career and could cost her millions. The case will go to court in Los Angeles later this month with Simorangkir asking for unspecified damages. According to the defense lawyer, Love "embarked on what is nothing short of an obsessive and delusional crusade to destroy Simorangkir's reputation and her livelihood." The case is expected to decide whether Love's statements should be taken as truths by her fans or as opinions protected as free speech under the First Amendment.
