Ted Cruz shut down the government—now he wants to shut down the Obama administration's efforts on same-sex marriage. On Wednesday, the Texas senator introduced a bill that tries to bolster the ability of states to determine their own definition of marriage and "protects states from the federal government’s efforts to force any other definition upon them." The legislation, co-sponsored by Mike Lee (R-UT), doesn’t stand a chance in the Democratic-controlled Senate, but it should do nicely in the 2016 GOP primaries.
