Curt Schilling: I Have Cancer

Retired major leaguer Curt Schilling announced Wednesday in a joint statement with ESPN that he is currently battling cancer. Schilling, 47, did not state what type or what his prognosis was, only that he has "recently been diagnosed.” As an ace pitcher, Schilling was part of the Boston Red Sox’s 2004 and 2007 World series-winning teams. He has been working at ESPN as a baseball analyst. His own wife. Shonda, fought malignant melanoma in the early 2000s. He said in his statement, "I'll embrace this fight just like the rest of them, with resolute faith and head on."
