Dallas Braden pitched a perfect game for the Oakland A’s Sunday, helping his team beat the Tampa Bay Rays—who’ve lost just three games on the road this year—4 to 0. It was the first perfect game for Oakland in 42 years, and only the 19th in major league history. Braden, 26, threw only 109 pitches and struck out six in his first complete game. His teammates rushed the pitcher mound as the last batter grounded out, and Braden pointed to the sky in honor of his mom, who died when he was in high school. The pitcher’s grandmother was in the stands, and she gets the Mother’s Day game ball.
