The new cast of contestants on Dancing With the Stars is producer Deena Katz’s “dream team”—Jersey Shore’s The Situation, David Hasselhoff, Bristol Palin, comedian Margaret Cho, singers Michael Bolton and Brandy, actor Kyle Massey, NFL quarterback Kurt Warner, basketball player Rick Fox, Dirty Dancing star Jennifer Grey, classic Brady Bunch mom Florence Henderson, and The Hills star Audrina Patridge will all compete for the mirror-ball trophy. Katz says the casting process was “like putting together the most bizarre and yet entertaining kind of dinner party." The competitors are like pieces of a puzzle, offering something for everyone: “Let's say you watch because you love David Hasselhoff and you have no idea who Margaret Cho is—what I love is this idea that you go in watching The Hoff but you then fall in love with Margaret,” Katz says. She’s been “stalking” The Hoff and Grey for years—Grey was reticent, though she knew fans would love to see her on DWTS. It was hard to find interested celebrities the first season, but now tons of stars want to be on the show. Palin, for example, got the call and immediately packed up her truck and drove from Alaska.
