A city in Denmark has made pork mandatory on municipal menus, including meals for public schools and daycares. Politicians in Randers maintained that the measure aims to preserve Danish culture rather than attack Muslim migrants. One council member did say that he had received “several complaints about too many concessions” being made to accommodate Muslims, who do not eat pork. “The signal we want to send here is that if you’re a Muslim and you plan to come to Randers, don’t expect you can impose eating habits on others. Pork here is on an equal footing with other food,” a Randers council member told The Associated Press.
