Longtime couture client Daphne Guinness will finally open her closet to the public: She will exhibit between 80 and 100 of her finest pieces at the Fashion Institute of Technology in September 2011. The collection is said to include pieces by the late Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, Comme des Garcons, and Azzedine Alaïa. The show will trace Guinness' style (including her penchant for interesting sleeves, ruffles, hats, veils, and ribbons) and will run through January 2012. Yale University Press will craft a book based on the exhibit, and the show will be curated by Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of the Museum at FIT. Steele notes that Guinness "is so creative and inspirational" that an entire show dedicated to her seemed justified. No word yet on whether or not the 10-inch "armadillo boots" designed by Alexander McQueen will be included in the exhibit.
