Richard Dawkins, the leading British atheist, has penned a tribute to his fellow comrade against godliness, Christopher Hitchens, calling the unrelenting essayist his hero for 2010. Hitchens, who is fighting a public battle against throat cancer, is "arguably the most formidable debater alive today yet at the same time the most gentlemanly," Dawkins writes." If Hitchens is unable to win that battle, Dawkins writes, "he will bequeath us an example worth following for centuries to come."
