In the Virginia attorney general race that was too close to call for much of the week, Democratic candidate Mark Herring took a 163-vote lead over his Republican contender, Mark Obenshain, on Tuesday night. The vote tally was due at midnight, but will probably be challenged with a recount later in the month. If Herring emerges victorious he will be the first Democrat in 19 years to hold the job, and complete his party's domination on the entire state's top positions. The position is thought be a gateway into the governor's office.
