Senate Democrats said Tuesday they will boycott committee votes on President Donald Trump’s nominees to head the Departments of Treasury and Health and Human Services. As the Senate Finance Committee hearing on confirming Steve Mnuchin and Rep. Tom Price was supposed to begin, Democrats called a news conference to announce the move. The move comes after a Wall Street Journal report found further conflicts of interest that Price never disclosed and which allegedly disputed his testimony in front of the committee. “This is contrary to congressional testimony he gave,” said Sen. Ron Wyden. “He misled the Congress and he misled the American people.” GOP Sen. Orrin Hatch, a longtime member of the body, called the Democrats’ boycott “the most pathetic thing I’ve seen in my whole time in the United States Senate.”
