A lot can change in two years. Barack Obama is trying to figure out how to help the Democrats in November and the best thing he can do may be to stay away, much like George W. Bush did in 2008. “You may not even want me to come to your district,” the president reportedly told nine Democratic members of Congress last week. Still, other Dems are complaining that the president has been painting them with the same brush as Republicans when he criticizes Washington. Several candidates have said that they don't know whether Obama is focused on 2010. They have criticized the White House for keeping the president’s list of 2008 supporters private and denying requests for campaign appearances by the first lady, who seems more popular than her husband.
