A man convicted of killing Ani Dewani on her honeymoon in South Africa died in prison, officials said Saturday. Xolile Mngeni was set to testify in the trial for Ani's husband, Shrien, who has been charged with murder and lying about the circumstances of his wife's death. Mngeni, 27, was serving a life sentence as one of the three men convicted for their involvement in the 2010 death of Dewani. Zola Tongo, who was also found guilty for his involvement in the murder, told South African officials that Shrien bribed him to orchestrate the killing and make it look like a carjacking. Still, the sentencing judge had no sympathy for Mngeni, who was the only one of the three men to receive life in prison. "He had no regard to her right to freedom, dignity, and totally disregarded and showed no respect to her right to life by brutally killing her with utter disdain," said Judge Robert Henney. Mngeni suffered from a brain tumor.
