Organizing for Action, the political advocacy group backed by President Obama, admitted Wednesday to setting up a White House meeting with a controversial New Jersey businessman who was being sued by a federal agency. Munr Kazmir was asked if he was interested in raising money for OFA, after which a meeting was set up for Kazmir and a White House aide, thanks to OFA's chief. Kazmir then sent OFA $100,000, which it did not accept. According to a White House spokesman, “As soon as [the aide] learned that this meeting involved ongoing litigation, he immediately terminated it and made clear he could not get involved.” In addition, a fundraiser at OFA encouraged Joseph Piacentile to make donations to other liberal organizations while he was seeking a pardon. There were at least two other instances where OFA recommended controversial donations be routed to liberal groups where donor disclosure was not required.
