Blind dissident Chen Guangcheng is accusing New York University of bowing to pressure from the Chinese government. Chen, who came to America as a visiting scholar, said that the university had been hospitable, but began discussing his family's departure within months of their arrival. NYU, which is building a campus in Shanghai, shot back that Chen's fellowship was only supposed to last one year. Chen, who rankled the Communist Party with his work on behalf of farmers and the disabled, has said he fears for his family's safety in China. He is in talks with Fordham's law school for a position.
