DNA evidence in the JonBenet Ramsey case doesn't support officials’ choice to clear the girl’s entire family from all suspicion in her tragic death, according to a new investigation by the Daily Camera and a local television news team. Forensics experts have reportedly found the presence of a third person’s genetic markers, which had never before been revealed. The two news organizations obtained the DNA tests and had them taken to various forensics experts, who now dispute former District Attorney Mary Lacy’s decision. Lacy determined that a DNA profile found in one place on JonBenet’s underpants and two locations on her long johns was necessarily the killer’s, and Lacy asserted that determination in clearing the girl’s family. But experts now say the evidence points to the possibility that the DNA came from at least two people, in addition to the girl. Lacy's office was reportedly aware of that, but, according to documents obtained by the Camera and 9NEWS, she never mentioned it in clearing the Ramsey family. The experts also said that the original sample may in fact be a composite instead of a single individual's DNA. “It’s a rather obvious point, but I mean, if you’re looking for someone that doesn’t exist, because actually it’s several people, it’s a problem,” said Troy Eid, a former U.S. Attorney for Colorado.
