A member of Miami’s mounted patrol said that a dog had lunged at his horse on Tuesday and therefore he had to shoot and kill it. According to the police, the dog was a stray. “The officer tried to avoid the horse from being attacked so he moved the horse out of harm’s way. The dog charged at the horse, bit her, forcing the officer to discharge his weapon striking the dog,” police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said in a statement. The horse, Sara, reportedly had injuries on her front and hind legs and was taken for medical attention. The dead dog was removed from the scene by Miami-Dade Animal Services.
