The world will live without Dr. Laura for only one weekend. The conservative and controversial radio talk show host will be leaving her syndicated program and moving to XM Satellite Radio in January. In August Laura Schlessinger announced she would be leaving her show after her contract expires on December 31. The announcement came after she used the N-word on the air while talking to an African American caller and protesters called for her dismissal. Schlessinger was immediately contacted by XM executives about moving to satellite. Her show currently gets eight million daily listeners, but that could change dramatically with only 20 million total satellite listeners. But she seems thrilled about the move: "The first and most important thing that appealed to me was the freedom to speak my mind without advertisers and affiliates being attacked by activist groups that just love to censor anything they don't agree with," she said.
