Sounds like a fourth-grade science experiment gone wrong. A “dry ice bomb,” or a plastic bottle filled with dry ice, exploded in a bathroom at Los Angeles International Airport Sunday night, causing delays, but luckily no injuries. An employee reported hearing an explosion around 7 p.m. in the Terminal 2, Gate 27 restroom, and discovered the bottle. LAPD’s bomb squad arrived to investigate, and cleared the area with normal operations resuming around 9 p.m. The investigation has been turned over to the FBI.
