He’s not home free just yet. French police questioned former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn Monday in relation to journalist Tristane Banon’s claim that he had assaulted her at an apartment in 2003. Paris police questioned him for about three hours on Monday morning. Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers said in a statement that he had requested that police speak to him as early as scheduling allowed. The case’s witnesses read like a Who’s Who of French politicians, including French Socialist presidential candidate Francois Hollande, as police try to determine if they had any knowledge of Banon’s allegations. Also at issue is whether the statute of limitations has ended, as there is a three-year window to press sexual-assault charges in France—compared with 10 years for rape.
