Europeans, meet your oldest ancestors: Scientists have discovered the oldest human fossils from Europe, two infant teeth from Italy they estimate are between 43,000 and 45,000 years old, and a jawbone with three teeth from England between 41,500 and 44,200 years old. The baby teeth were originally found in 1964 but for a long time were thought to be from a Neanderthal, while the age of the jawbone was underestimated by 7,000 years when it was found in 1989. Previously, the oldest human fossil was dated to be between 37,800 and 42,000 years old.
