This Is It, the highly publicized Michael Jackson documentary made more than $2.2 million in sales on Tuesday’s opening night, and Wednesday matinees have done even better. Sony thinks the news is “terrific” and called yesterday "an unprecedented number for a Tuesday in October." The new film is playing in 97 countries and the studio expects “great worldwide opening day numbers to report.” Rotten Tomatoes’ aggregated reviews ran the documentary with a smashing 86% in positive reviews from top critics. At the L.A. premiere, director Kenny Ortega called the film, the "last sacred documentation of our leader and our friend,” reports the Associated Press.
