Anna Wintour shed the sunglasses for an up-close and personal profile on 60 Minutes on Saturday, but we may not have learned anything new. She answered questions about how Vogue is weathering the recession, her prickly (and, as she pronounced it, “broooosk”) image, and her future (she’s not going anywhere.) But according to Entertainment Weekly’s Ken Tucker, there was nothing timely about the segment: “It was as though Morley Safer's rascally postman had finally delivered that Netflix copy of 2006's The Devil Wears Prada,” he writes. The outtakes of the segment, which were originally posted on CBS’s website, have mysteriously disappeared. But good riddance: in one of the edited-out segments, Wintour admitted to telling Oprah Winfrey to drop 20 pounds in anticipation of her 1998 cover shoot. “It was a very gentle suggestion,” Wintour said. “I went to Chicago to visit Oprah, and I suggested that it might be a good idea that she lose a little bit of weight. I said simply that you might feel more comfortable. She was a trooper!”
