Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi was looking mighty lonely Monday as his country’s highest court announced that it would be joining a judicial strike against him. The Supreme Constitutional Court put down its gavel indefinitely just as it was supposed to rule on whether two assemblies that support Morsi were constitutionally legitimate. The Egyptian president sparked the largest protests the country has seen since the Arab Spring when he made a grab for broad new powers Nov. 22. Egypt last saw an all-out judiciary strike in 1919.
