After the Department of Justice issued a report accusing him of using his court to fund the city on the backs of poor minorities, Ronald Brockmeyer, Ferguson, Missouri’s municipal judge, has resigned. In addition, the Missouri Supreme Court has ordered that all Ferguson municipal cases be transferred to the state’s court of appeals. Brock issued a statement about his resignation, and while he said it was untrue that he had been unfair to poor minorities who were in his court, and blamed the court clerk and police, he said he recognized that the DOJ report had “diminished the public confidence in the Ferguson Municipal Court.”
