While he was Speaker of the New York State Assembly, Sheldon Silver had affairs with two women outside of his marriage, court documents allegedly show. One of the women held a state job that Silver helped her acquire, and the other was reportedly a lobbyist for clients who had business with the state. Silver was convicted in November for money laundering and extortion after he made millions of dollars in kickbacks. His attorneys argued that the affairs aren't relevant to the criminal case, but Judge Valerie Caproni said on Thursday that she will consider the unsealed evidence during his sentencing hearing next month.
