Grammy Award-winning Tuareg musicians, Tinariwen was formed in 1979 as a real deal rock ’n’ roll rebellion in response to North Africa’s unstable cultural climate. Establishing a collective to address the issues of the Tuareg people, the band vowed to make music for anyone who provided them with a cassette tape to record on. As their music spread across the Saharan region, they soon brought their Berber sound to the West, gaining international acclaim.
Teaming up with Lalla Badi, the world’s most respected tindé musician, Tinariwen married its sound with theirs. In this exclusive video performance of “Tindé Final Tinariwen” taken from the last show of their 130-date tour, Tinariwen and Lalla Badi solidify their culture’s presence on the international stage.
The album Live in Paris will be available on November 20.
