Facebook’s death grip on social media shows no signs of slowing: The networking site has just introduced two new mobile phone apps, expanding their influence even more. Single Sign On allows users to use different services on a smartphone while logged into Facebook, which could potentially end the user-interface problems that tend to seriously impede mobile transactions. The other new program, Deals, works in conjunction with Places, which lets users check into their location. Deals shows discounts nearby where the user has checked in. The site also launched a redesign Tuesday night, although a Facebook spokesman did not confirm if the redesign is just being tested or if it’s permanent.
