The young royals have quietly launched their philanthropic careers over the past year, and today William, Kate and Harry’s newly named charity vehicle, The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, published its accounts.
The new charity - which replaces the old Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry - spent a not insignificant £1.3m on charitable activity in its inaugural year of grant-making.
The £1.3m spent during 2011 included administering gifts given by the public in lieu of wedding presents for last year’s wedding, under the auspices of The Royal Wedding Charitable Gift Fund, and money raised from the sale of the official wedding programme.
Recipients of cash included kids charities and Harry’s beloved Walking With The Wounded.
