Maybe a prank call would have been a better idea. A man in London apparently put a fake bomb on a UPS flight to Turkey in March—a package disguised as a wedding cake but including a timer, wires, and a detonator that would be part of a real bomb. The package made it all the way to Turkey without being detected by UPS or other security measures. But it’s not just weird—the case is sensitive because it echoes a plot in October 2010 in which terrorists attempted to send a bomb disguised as an ink cartridge via UPS, with the intention of detonating the bomb while the plane was over the Atlantic Ocean. Police say a 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the hoax, but added that it was not terrorism-related.
