A sad day for the funnies: Bil Keane, the 89-year-old creator of the comic strip “Family Circus,” has died at 89. Keane’s family-friendly one-panel comics—which he started drawing in 1960—are featured every week in almost 1,500 newspapers. Keane’s friend, the late “Peanuts” writer Charles M. Schulz, once said of Keane, “"I think we share a care for the same type of humor…We're both family men with children and look with great fondness at our families." There were no details about the cause of Keane’s death.
