A federal judge on Thursday dismissed a lawsuit brought by the state of Texas that was intended to halt the arrival of Syrian refugees in the Lone Star State. Texas was suing the federal government based on claims the immigrants posed an imminent threat and that the state—and others—deserved a say in resettlements. U.S. District Judge David Godbey rejected those assertions. The vetting of refugees is a rigorous multi-year process, the Obama administration said.
