Detroit Police said Thursday a federal judge was shot in the leg in what appeared to be an attempted robbery. U.S. District Judge Terrence Berg was wounded after he struggled with two male suspects who attempted to force him into his home. The suspects, thought to be around the age of 18 to 20, got away in a dark-colored Dodge Charger, according to police. Berg was taken to a hospital and is in temporary serious condition, police said. Hospital officials said they will not release any information about Berg’s condition, but his family posted on Facebook the judge is going to be OK. FBI spokesman David Porter said the local FBI office is working with the U.S. Marshals Service in the investigation as well as with the Detroit Police. Chief U.S. District Judge Gerald Rosen said police believe the incident was either an attempted robbery or home invasion.
