The Justice Department is not likely to bring civil-rights charges against the cop that shot Michael Brown dead in Ferguson, Missouri, on Aug. 9. Department investigators say they believe they do not have sufficient evidence to charge Darren Wilson, the white officer who fired on the unarmed black teenager. “The evidence at this point does not support civil-rights charges against Officer Wilson,” a source briefed on the investigation told The Washington Post. The Justice Department has not officially made any ruling on whether to charge Wilson and has denied the Post’s story. “This is an irresponsible report by The Washington Post that is based on idle speculation,” said Justice Department spokesman Brian Fallon.
